Job Description

Woof in Maleny in April-May 2016 with opportunity to housesit from June-December. Off-grid, straw bale house with solar power & hot water, bottled gas, and composting toilet.

Projects include:
planning & building an outdoor bathroom with cast iron tub, separate shower, composting hot water system and perhaps straw urinal. Building a terraced, permaculture vegetable garden including preparing the soil using compost, chickens etc. Setting up Flow Hive. And the biggest job...slashing the path down to the creek, ridding the path of lantana, and replacement planting to avoid future lantana growth. The reward is easy access to our waterfall (above).

The house is occupied by two single mothers, two toddlers, two dogs, and a worm farm.

Living:
2 double mattresses with mosquito nets on the covered veranda or pitch own tent or bring campervan. Access to indoor and outdoor bathrooms (once completed). Access to kitchen and meals provided when working. Outdoor fires for cooking also. Full internet access but no mobile phone reception.

Working:
Open to negotiation, thinking 3 x 8-hour days per week; hearty meals provided on those days plus 24/7 kitchen & BBQ access (subject to solar power issues). We’re looking for people who have strong backs and an interest in permaculture and sustainable living. You’ll need long sleeves, long pants, closed shoes for some of the work.
