Job Description

GREAT RURAL AU PAIR POSITION/FARMHAND WITH VISA SIGN OFF- 23 APRIL START
Busy rural family looking for our next wonderful au pair! We require a friendly outgoing live in au pair to join the family from 23 April (latest) starting with a one week handover with our current au pair. This is a fabulous opportunity to experience rural Australian life on a farm in the lovely Central West of NSW. Opportunity to sign off on second year visa for right applicant. We have three children aged almost 5 yrs, 3 years and almost one! We live on a sheep/cattle/cropping farm in Canowindra (Central West NSW)- 11km out of the township of Canowindra and approx. 60km (45min drive) from the major township of Orange (36,000 people). Orange is quite a cosmopolitan regional centre. Canowindra is a lovely small country town with a welcoming community. There are many Au Pairs working within the region.
We run a family farming operation and I am a professional working in Orange (50mins away). With all this in mind we need support with our children, basic house cleaning & tidying, meal prep & generally helping to keep our busy lives on track. This is a live in au pair role including accommodation in our furnished cottage (400m from the main house). Your role with our children is pivotal and a genuine love of children is essential (kids can tell)!!! Preferably we are looking for someone who has experience in childcare or can demonstrate a credible understanding of the expectations of young children/babies. We are looking for a reliable, honest & organised person. The role includes childcare for the days when Mum is at work, assistance with all daily activities associated with the children and within the house, gardening, errands or farm jobs (supervised). This means that for the right person we could assist with your 2nd year visa application. Flexibility is essential as longer hours may be required due to the nature of the businesses we run. Weekends will generally be yours however you may be needed for a few hours as negotiated. We produce grain/lamb/wool/cattle- hence this position may not be ideal for vegetarians, gluten free or fussy eaters.
Finding a trustworthy person who can communicate well is important to us. We are looking for someone to become an extension of our family. The preferred applicant would be mature, have good English skills, capacity to be neat & tidy and be able to work productively within the dynamics of a family. You must be a competent, safe driver (gravel roads). Manual driving skills preferable. You will need to provide proof you hold a driver’s license & hold travel insurance. Telstra is the only reliable phone provider on the farm. Current first aid certificate preferable. Non smokers only. Food/weekly payment/accommodation/access to manual car (to which you will be responsible for fuel) are included in package. Further details available upon application. Preferably seeking a longer term placement of 6 months. We have had a really positive experience with our last six au pairs and hope to have the same with our next great au pair. Please email me an up to date resume/CV with a recent picture, your current location & confirmation that you would be able to meet the start date.
We look forward to receiving your application soon.
Cheers Ellen & Stuart
