Backpacker Jobs in Darwin

Darwin is the small and sparsely populated Capital of the Northern territory of Australia. It is a tourist hub and for backpackers going through this port city, a number of casual or office jobs are available. For those who are staying in the northern territory a bit long, they can use their experience to get some short term work. They can help in IT support services like fixing machines or very general office jobs such as data collection. Given that Darwin's economic base is build on tourism and mining, the easiest jobs to find are at restaurants, pubs or in production factories. The factory jobs are basic and well worth a try for those interested in manual work.

Jobs in the hospitality industry are highly seasonal, peaking during the summer when visitors are the most. This might involve being a waiter/ waitress, washing dishes or clearing tables at a restaurant. For those who plan before their trip, they can get lucky and find a family looking for a short term nanny or Au pair to help around the house. A number of people also request for gardeners to tend to their lawns or gardens. There are also a number of youth hostels in Darwin where backpackers can stay to avoid racking up costly accommodation fees.
