Avocados are available in Australia pretty much all year thanks to different growing regions and varieties. The main variety, Hass, has a season which usually runs from May through to January. The smaller Shepard crop, the smooth green ones, takes over from around February to May, with the best supply in autumn. Queensland avocados are mostly picked in the cooler months between March and October. Western Australia comes on later from July through to March, helping keep avos on shelves year-round.
