Kitchen Care Taker

Job Opportunity: Kitchen Caretaker at Hostel in Surry Hills, Sydney (2x Positions)

We are currently looking for 2 reliable and friendly Kitchen Caretaker to join our team at our vibrant hostel located in Surry Hills, Sydney. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a lively and fast-paced environment.

As part of the team, the kitchen will be your project, and you will be responsible for maintaining its cleanliness, as well as communicating with reception and management to ensure improvements are made and necessary supplies or actions are addressed to maintain a pristine kitchen. In exchange for your work, you will receive a bed in a 2-bed dorm with its own bathroom shared with the other Kitchen Caretaker, free coffee and laundry, and the opportunity to make friends from around the world through our events team.

The Kitchen Care Takers:

• The Kitchen Caretaker Team consists of two cleaners who must coordinate with each other to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
• Coordination with Reception and Management is crucial to coordinate cleaning activities
• Shifts are flexible but must be completed during the early Morning and late Afternoon.
• Work 18 hours per week (2-3 hours per day)

Responsibilities:
• Wash, dry, and put away dishes
• Clean surfaces, sink, counters, and microwave
• Empty bins, replace rubbish bags, and clean bin lids
• Refill tea towels, dishwashing liquid, and kitchen supplies (coffee, milk powder, sugar)
• Mop kitchen, common area and reception
• Replace and wash used dishcloths

Ideal Candidate:
• You have a strong sense of ownership and can take charge of the cleanliness and upkeep of both the kitchen and common areas
• You are able to work well with others in a team environment
• You are enthusiastic and proactive
• Flexible and organised, with good communication skills
• You’re someone who enjoys taking initiative and is committed to upholding a high standard of hygiene.
• You are available for a minimum of 3 months and have proven experience in hospitality.
