Chef/cook/all-rounder

We are seeking an experienced cook or chef to join our team who is also interested in working in the front of house.

We need a second cook/chef to assist with prep, help with cooking duties on busy nights and assist with cleaning (equipment and daily pack down). This person would also need to be able to help front of house staff by covering breaks, running meals and serving drinks, taking orders etc during the busy nights, and do open and lunch service in the bar on days when the kitchen doesn't require them.

In the kitchen the following skills are needed:
- great time management
- ability to work individually or as a team
- experience cooking with deep fryers, pizza ovens, grill and pans
- experience prepping including butchering duties (or ability to learn)
- assist with functions
- adherence to Food Safety Standards
- a Food Handling certificate for Queensland

In the front of house this person will need to be able to:
- interact with customers in a friendly and welcoming way to ensure our reputation for excellent country hospitality is upheld
- check customers into rooms and caravan sites
- take bookings for the hotel and tourist park
- prepare basic and complex beverages (including cocktails)
- multi-task and handle the pressure of a busy service
- take meal orders
- handle cash and EFTPOS transactions
- re-stock the bottle-shop
- complete general cleaning duties
- any other tasks that may be required of you

This position offers between 30-38 hours a week.

This job will likely transfer into a full-time kitchen role when one of our current chefs (temp contract) moves on.

Accommodation can be provided if required. The closest town with a grocery store is 42kms (30 minutes) away. There is a bus that goes to town, however, it is advised that the applicant have their own vehicle.
