Job Description
For over 20 years, we have hosted backpackers happy for a chance to take a break from travelling for a few months.
We require 2 days’ work per week on Tuesdays and Fridays. Most of the work is either gardening: including raking, digging, mulching, weeding and removing dead or fallen branches; or housekeeping: spring cleaning the main Homestead, or washing windows, cleaning gutters or decobwebbing around our guest cottage. Also there are general tasks like collecting firewood or filling pot-holes in the driveway.
The work is not exciting, but the environment is beautiful!
In exchange, our helpers live rent-free in their very own, private bluestone cottage (pictured); with a full-sized kitchen, double bedroom with ensuite bathroom, and separate living/dining room with wood fire, TV and free Wi-Fi; and a lovely big verandah.
Electricity, gas and water are all included free, as well as linen, towels, crockery, cutlery and cookware.
As we only ask for 2 days’ work per week, our helpers have plenty of time to relax, study, seek casual work in the local area (in hospitality, fruit-picking, tending vineyards etc.) ... and enjoy the property as we do.
In rural Australia, life is definitely what you make it. Our daily existence is active yet simple; busy but peaceful; and filled with furred and feathered friends to keep us company!
(Please note, is ESSENTIAL you have your own vehicle, as there is no public transport near us).
