Amazing opportunity to join a warm, down-to-earth family in the beachside town of Mackay, North Queensland!

This lovely professional father is looking for an au pair to help care for his 12-year-old son. He is an independent, well-adjusted boy who attends a local private school and would love to have a big brother or sister as a role model and companion.

As Dad works away around 10 days per month (sometimes locally, sometimes overseas), the au pair will take on a responsible role during those periods, managing the son’s before/after school routine, meals, activities, and overnight care. When Dad is home, the role is much lighter (approx. 10 hours per week). On average, you’ll be working around 35 hours per week.

Mackay is a hidden gem on the Queensland coast, known for its relaxed lifestyle, palm-fringed beaches, and access to the stunning Whitsundays and Great Barrier Reef. You’ll enjoy a true Aussie experience here, with plenty of opportunities to explore waterfalls, hiking trails, and vibrant markets on your days off. It’s also a lively town with a friendly international backpacker community—perfect for making new friends and memories while you au pair!
