Backpacker Caretakers

Caretaker(s) needed to independently run a budget hostel and backpacker at Swansea on Tasmania’s East Coast. (Swansea Backpackers)

Swansea is a scenic coastal township on Tasmania's east coast midway between two iconic landmarks - Freycinet National Park and Maria Island.

Duties would include monitoring visitor short and long term stays, regular cleaning of the premises, carrying out room changeovers (including laundering linen) and undertaking some lawn mowing of a courtyard lawn and small attached camping area.

The position requires a couple who have demonstrated experience in room servicing, cleaning and management.

Numerous additional work opportunities also exist in the town in hospitality and cleaning at the many tourist accommodation venues and work at the adjacent Bark Mill Tavern bar, restaurant and bakery.

Accommodation in a caravan would be provided along with a vehicle and a salary of 500 per week paid officially.

The owner will be at the property whilst transitioning.

The position would suit a couple who could commit to a minimum of 3 months starting immediately.

The work will require resilience, flexibility and honesty.
