Hostel Assistant Manager

The Mahony Group is looking for an Assistant manager who is passionate about the adventure tourism industry to fill a role at its hostel in Brisbane.

Your role will include the following responsibilities:

Operations

Assisting in running the day-to-day operations with the hostel manager including:

Implementing standards and procedures

Deal with issues as they arise

Dealing with suppliers/ordering

Dealing with contractors eg: Trades, maintenance

Organise housekeeping to ensure cleaning is up to a high standard

Oversee reservation enquiries, check in and check outs, payments



Financial Reportin

Checking of bills and communicating them with Head office

Working with the hostel manager to budget costs


Staff Management

Assist in onboarding new staff

Assisting in rostering receptionists and Housekeepers

Be a leader and train receptionists and housekeepers in all aspects of their jobs

Contribute to a good working environment for employees



Customers

Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction

Monitor and respond to guest review’s

Deal with difficult customers as they arise



Marketing

Assist in managing the properties social media accounts to ensure interaction and development of brand

Work with other hostel managers to market and connect guests to other properties



Experience/Skills required

Applicant must have

1+ years of experience in a supervisor role

2+ years in hospitality experience

Must have worked with some systems preferably Property Management Systems

Strong ability to multi task

Strong communication skills

The ability to work in a team or alone

Good understanding of processes and efficiency
