RIVER TUBING TOUR GUIDE - The Warby

Location: Warburton, VIC

Reports to: Warburton Motel Management

ABOUT THE ROLE

The River Tubing Tour Guide is the face of our tubing experience in Warburton — welcoming guests, creating a fun and safe vibe, and delivering a smooth, memorable adventure along the Yarra River. This is a hands-on, outdoorsy role suited to someone confident, friendly, and chilled under pressure. You’ll be helping run the full guest journey: check-in, gear, safety briefing, guiding, and shuttle runs.

Hotel housekeeping also available from time to time!

ABOUT YOU (THE IDEAL GUIDE)
- Confident speaking to groups and giving clear instructions.
- Comfortable in the water and able to assist guests physically
if needed.
- Calm, friendly, and great at reading guests’ comfort levels.
- Physically capable — lifting tubes, walking uneven riverbanks, helping guests in/out
- Safety-focused with good judgment.
- First Aid certificate, driver’s licence for shuttle support, police and working with children check

HOURS & AVAILABILITY
- Peak season: Dec – April
- Casual hours vary with weather and guest bookings, generally 2–6 hours per day, 3–5 days a week
- Must be available weekends, school holidays, and peak periods

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

GUEST EXPERIENCE AND HOSTING
- Welcome guests warmly and set the tone for a fun, relaxed experience.
- Explain the tubing process clearly and provide an upbeat safety briefing.
- Answer guest questions, reassure nervous participants, and maintain a positive vibe.
- Represent the Warburton Motel brand — friendly, local, and community-minded.

SAFTEY AND SUPERVISION
- Deliver all safety instructions clearly (lifejackets, footwear, dry bags, phones, river behaviour).
- Monitor river conditions and adjust the experience when required.
- Support guests if they fall out, get stuck, or need help navigating faster sections.
- Manage the exit point, depth checks, and guide guests safely off the river.

OPERATIONS AND EQUIPMENT
- Set up and pack down all tubing equipment (tubes, PFDs, helmets if needed, dry bags).
- Keep equipment clean, organised, and in safe working condition.
- Assist with shuttle driving if required and licensed.
- Keep accurate records of participant numbers, waivers, incidents, and daily conditions.

COMMUNICATION AND TEAM WORK
- Maintain professional and clear communication with managers and team members.
- Report any incidents, hazards, or equipment issues immediately.
- Help improve guest flow, safety processes, and overall experience.
