Gardener – Historic Rural Property

Barunah Plains is one of Victoria’s most iconic heritage properties. Set on 640 acres of rolling Western District farmland, the 1866 bluestone homestead and surrounding historic buildings are used for weddings, major music festivals, private events and boutique accommodation.
We are seeking a mature, experienced gardener who takes genuine pride in their work and understands the importance of presentation on a high-profile property.
This is not a general farm labour role. We are looking for someone with solid hands-on gardening experience who enjoys maintaining established gardens to a high standard.
The Role
You will be responsible for maintaining and improving:
Established heritage gardens around the homestead
Lawns and high-visibility event areas
Garden beds, hedges and ornamental plantings
Tree care and seasonal pruning
Irrigation monitoring and basic maintenance
Preparing the grounds to a high standard before weddings and events
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
Has strong practical gardening experience (private estate, large garden, council or similar)
Understands lawns, hedging, pruning and plant health
Can work independently and see what needs doing
Is reliable, steady and takes pride in presentation
Is comfortable working outdoors in all seasons
Ideally has experience with ride-on mowers, brushcutters and general garden equipment
