Job Description

Join us on a working cattle station in North West Queensland and take care of the cooking for our station team. No station background is necessary, a positive attitude, reliability and the ability to work independently are the most important things! :)

Located about 400km from Townsville, this position involves preparing meals for the crew and managing the day-to-day running of the homestead kitchen as well as other responsibilities.

Duties include but are not limited to:
• Preparing large, hearty meals for crew
• Early start to cook breakfast
• Baking treats like cakes, bread and desserts
• Preparing snacks for smoko
• Managing freezers, fridges and dry stores
• Unpacking large deliveries from town
• Keeping track of stock to reduce the possibility of running out
• Cleaning kitchen
• Feeding the homestead animals
• Gardening and greenhouse maintenance
As well as anything else that is part of life on the land!

Life on a station can be busy and no two days are exactly the same, so we’re looking for someone practical, organised and easygoing.

We're looking for someone who:
• Has a strong work ethic
• Ability to create meals and dishes with limited stock
• Ability to ration food / ingredients
• Can do meal preparation
• Self motivated and ability to work independently
• Organised and tidy
• Positive attitude and easy to get along with
• Comfortable living and working in a remote environment
