Container Unloader

The Container Unloader is a hands-on operational role responsible for safely and efficiently unloading containers, handling goods, and preparing pallets for dispatch at client sites. This physically active role requires adherence to all safety procedures, correct manual handling techniques, and clear communication with supervisors and clients. The role also ensures accurate documentation of shifts, timesheets, and any operational or safety incidents.

Key Responsibilities

· Safely unload containers, lifting items ranging from 5–35 kg, and allocate goods to designated pallet configurations according to client and company standards.

· Manually wrap pallets using shrink wrap, ensuring stability and safety for transport.

· Operate mechanical aids such as pallet jacks and safety steps when required.

· Follow all safety rules and procedures, including correct manual handling techniques, PPE requirements, and on-site hazard awareness.

· Report any incidents, near misses, hazards, or unsafe practices immediately to the Site Supervisor / Team Leader.

· Sign in at the start of each shift and sign off at the end of the shift, accurately recording start times, finish times, and breaks.

· Complete all timesheets and submit them according to company procedures.

· Communicate effectively with the Site Supervisor / Team Leader and client representatives regarding operational issues, delays, or requirements.

· Collect and complete all required paperwork and documentation from clients at the start and end of shifts.

· Maintain a clean and safe work environment, ensuring pallets and goods are stored safely and walkways are clear.
