Forklift Operator

The Forklift Driver is a hands-on operational role responsible for safely operating forklifts—including counterbalance, electric, high-reach, and gas forklifts—to move, load, and unload containers at client sites. This role also involves manual handling duties, pallet preparation, and warehouse activities. Forklift Drivers are essential to ensuring operational efficiency, workplace safety, and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate forklifts, including counterbalance, electric, high-reach, and gas forklifts, to move, load, and unload containers and stock.
• Perform manual handling duties, lifting and moving items weighing 5–35 kg when required.
• Follow all safety rules and procedures, including PPE requirements, safe forklift operation, and correct manual handling techniques.
• Report any incidents, near misses, hazards, or unsafe practices immediately to the Site Supervisor / Team Leader.
• Sign in at the start of each shift and sign off at the end, accurately recording start times, finish times, and breaks.
• Ensure pallets are prepared, wrapped, and stored safely for transport.
• Complete timesheets, client paperwork, and operational documentation accurately at the end of each shift.
• Communicate effectively with the Site Supervisor / Team Leader and client representatives regarding operational issues, delays, or requirements.
• Conduct daily inspections of forklifts and report any defects or maintenance requirements immediately.
• Support training of new staff on forklift operations, safe manual handling, and pallet preparation.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment, ensuring proper stacking and storage of goods.

Key Requirements

• Current and valid forklift licence for counterbalance, electric, high-reach, and gas forklifts.
• Experience operating forklifts safely in container unloading, warehouse, or logistics environments.
• Physically capable of performing manual handling tasks, lifting and moving goods up to 35 kg.
• Knowledge of and commitment to workplace health and safety requirements.
• Ability to follow safe manual handling and forklift operation procedures at all times.
• Strong communication skills to liaise with supervisors, team members, and clients effectively.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to accurately complete shift documentation, timesheets, and client paperwork.
• Team player with a proactive, solutions-focused approach to operational challenges.
