Volunteer At Our Kangaroo Sanctuary

Horizons Kangaroo Sanctuary agnes water, Bundaberg

Job Description

We are a couple dedicated to the rehabilitation and release of orphaned kangaroo joeys (mainly eastern greys). The babies come to us quite small and require feeds every 4 hours, time outside having excercise or just for a walk in the sunshine. The joeys we have in care range from this size to bigger ones that are on 2 or 3 bottles per day and a whole heap of semi released adults.

There is a lot of work keeping a clean and safe environment for the kangaroos so even though feeding and cuddles are very important, it is only a small part of the job as there is lots of cleaning to do (we pick up poo at least 4 times every day!). Bedding needs to be checked and cleaned, the house needs to be kept clean, water dishes cleaned & filled and the list goes on and on.

It will be beneficial if you are able to cook and help and sometimes cook the evening meal.

We can offer your own double bedroom and bathroom in the house.

Agnes Water is a beautiful small coastal town located between Bundaberg and Gladstone. We are the southern most point of the Great Barrier Reef, the beaches here are beautiful and pristine. Our property is located on 10 acres about 10 minutes from town .

We cannot sign off on 2nd year visa
Vodaphone does not work in Agnes Water
My internet is unreliable so organising your own internet would be recomended

We are a sanctuary dedicated to the rehabilitation and release of orphaned and injured wildlife, mainly eastern grey kangaroo joeys.
We are always requiring the services of volunteers to help with the day to day running of the sanctuary and other jobs maintaining our 10 acre property.
We have separate accommodation available and will provide a food allowance.
We do not and can not sign off on 2nd year visas.
Vodaphone does not work in Agnes Water.
There is no public wifi on the property so you will need to organise your own internet service.
If this is something that appeals to you, and you are an animal lover and not scared of a bit of hard work sometimes then send us an email.
