Are you looking for your next adventure and want to get out of the hustle and bustle of a big city to see more of Australia? We are looking for our next au pair! We are an internationally minded, energetic family of four. Job involves three whole days work looking after our two little boys and some evening ‘date night’ style baby sitting. You will have plenty of extra time for long-weekend travel and/or other work.

We are an active family of four. Mum and dad are professionals working in foreign affairs, who are worldly, well-travelled and love hosting visitors in our home and ‘adopting’ new au pairs as family members. Our children are two sturdy, loveable little boys. We are looking for an energetic au pair who is excited about getting to know us and exploring Australia’s magnificent capital.

Now let me start with the obvious. Canberra may not seem like a bustling busy city like Melbourne or Sydney, but it has a unique beauty, rhythm and culture of its own. Canberra offers you a more relaxed lifestyle and the opportunity to visit some wonderful national attractions that will help you understand Australia and it’s origins and officialdom better than anywhere else.

The Lonely Planet voted Canberra the third best city to visit in the world in 2018 and there are good reasons why. It is incredibly beautiful, picturesque and spacious. Our previous au pairs have enjoyed exploring the natural surrounds – hiking, mountain biking, watching wildlife, swimming in natural waterholes and fresh rivers. It’s also got plenty of great cafes, bars and restaurants for the more urban-inclined. With the best infrastructure in the country, Canberra is also conveniently located close enough to for weekend trips by car to Sydney, south coast beaches, local wine regions and other regional locales. It is a short flight to Melbourne and all other cities on the east coast.

Our eldest son, Lachlan is a fun-loving almost 4 year old who loves to talk, laugh and explore. He is funny, smart and strong willed with a big heart. He loves animals, birds and reptiles, trucks, tractors, helicopters, aeroplanes and bikes. He is very friendly, outgoing and loves running, swimming and exploring outside. His brother, Finn is an unstoppable 2-year old, who is close on his brothers heels, whom he adores. He loves balls sports, birds and anything related to water.

We anticipate that you would join us and care for the boys 2-3 whole days while my husband and I work. The other days, they’ll go to daycare and you may need to help with drop offs. There will be light house work and some after hours baby sitting required as part of your regular work. You will have access to the family car for work and personal use.

You will be accommodated in your own airy room in our modern townhouse – with wifi and netflix included. You will also have access to a car for your use outside of work hours.

Our family have a house on the south coast near the beach and we anticipate many weekend trips and adventures in and around Canberra itself. You would be very welcome to join us on these trips, should you be interested. Both my husband and I are physically and socially active and between us enjoy running, hiking and mountain biking, spending time with friends, eating out and visiting local markets.
