Au Pair

Andreotti Brisbane, Queensland

Job Description

I am Eva and I have two lovely children, Nicodemus (11) and Augustus (9).

We are an active and outgoing family and we do lots of things together both inside and outside the house. I work full time as a doctor on a rotating roster pattern and I am looking for someone to cover childcare while I work.

We are looking for an au pair to start in March and stay with us for 6 months. I work 10hr shifts with an average of 4 shifts a week.

Our family -
Nicodemus and Augustus are home-schooled. I don't impose a rigid structure on their learning, so they learn depending on what they are interested in and what is available around us, with an active and supportive adult presence. They learn in an open way from games, play, books, videos, excursions and context. Attachment parenting or respectful parenting probably best describes my parenting philosophy.
We moved to Brisbane last year and attend a homeschooling group twice a week.
We are quite active and spend a lot of time outdoors, at playgrounds and adventuring. We play and learn everywhere and we enjoy just spending time together. The boys do sports regularly and multiple times a week: athletics, climbing and swimming; and they join me in my endeavours.

Our Living situation -
Our home is a four bedroom home with a surrounding garden. The au pair has her own room and there are 2 toilets in the house.
The house is walking distance from shops, parks and train station.

What we do in our free time -
We enjoy spending time together in the house and outside! We do climbing, athletics, running swimming and spend time with other children and adults in our homeschooling group. We play computer games and board games, we build with legos and read, with draw and tell stories, we do gardening, watch movies, see plays in town and this year we're starting some music education.

Tasks and pocket money -
Expectations of our au pair would include:

- Driving licence

- spending time with the children, playing reading, drawing and actively engaging with them

- Prepare food and snacks for the children and yourself when I am at work

- Participate in home activities like a member of the family e.g. helping with meals, laundry and light house cleaning

- Regularly spending time outdoors with the children and their friends: on the beach, at one of the many playgrounds, at friends' houses, at social events, etc.

- Clean after yourself

Advantages:

- long stretches of days off good for exploring the area.

- $400 per week, internet, own room, and conditional use of a vehicle for local driving.

- Lots of time outdoors in pleasant weather and places

- Plenty of time with other adults and children

We are very happy to share our daily life with you and would love to welcome you within our larger tribe for as long as you stay!
