Au Pair / Mothers Help

Start: Monday 23rd July. 6 months minimum. Payment generous.
We are a busy, energetic, warm, fun, loving family of 5: 3 adorable children, 2 girls and a boy; and a mother and father.

We live on a farm on the Mornington Peninsula, 1 hour drive from Melbourne. The Peninsula is surrounded by beautiful countryside, surf beaches and calm swimming beaches, and wineries. (There are many websites on the Mornington Peninsula region worth viewing to get an idea of the area). This job would not suit someone who does not like the outdoor, county life.

Our farm is on 100 acres, surrounded by bush with native animals seen every day. Aside from the native animals, we have a Jack Russell dog, who thinks she is a person; 2 guinea pigs, chooks and horses.

We love being healthy and active and spending time in the outdoors whenever we can find the time. Some of our favourite activities include: horse riding, going to the beach, swimming, surfing, stand up paddle boarding, and snow skiing.

The father of the family has a very busy work life, which is varied and seasonal and often requires him to be away for a night or more. The mother is working part-time from home as well as being a full-time mother.

The girls are 6yrs and 4.5yrs old, and the boy is 2yrs old. The oldest girl is at school 5 days a week and the other girl is at Kinder 3 days a week. They are very bright, bubbly, energetic and loving children. They adore the outdoors: riding bikes and scooters, climbing trees, riding ponies; swimming and finding crabs in the rock pools at the beach; swimming in the dam, finding worms, and watching bunnies and kangaroos at our farm. They also love playing dress-ups and being creative including drawing, painting and cooking.

We love going snow skiing in winter.

The Au Pair / Mothers Help we are looking for must have had experience with children. They must be mature, confident, bubbly, energetic, hardworking and motivated and must use their own initiative. They must be neat and tidy. They must enjoy being active and spending time in the outdoors including the beach and farm, and like animals and ideally have had some horse experience. There is the opportunity to keep your own horse and ride at our farm should you wish.
The Au Pair must be willing to be flexible to fit in with our hectic life and to be prepared for their schedule to change from week to week, including working some weekends. We provide a weekly schedule each week in advance so that everyone is informed.
The role is predominately to assist the mother with the care of the 3 children and with the running of the household including: running errands, dropping children to school, some housework, laundry, cooking, feeding animals and helping with some more physical jobs around the farm including restocking wood piles.
The Au Pair / Mothers Help would be required to come away on holidays with the family to the beach and snow. They would also be required to stay at the farm and look after the children while the mother and father are away occasionally for a few days and nights at a time.

The Au Pair / Mothers Help must be an experienced and competent driver. We have 2automatic 4WD cars that the Helper would need to drive when required. The Helper also has the use of their own 4WD car.

Living-in facilities: We are happy for the position to be live-in or live-out, however there will be early morning starts and late evening finishes, and time away with the family. Should the Helper live in they have their own separate area with bedroom and sitting area with TV, and bathroom.

Over the past 6 years we have had very positive experiences with Au Pairs, both live in and live out. We currently have a Canadian Au Pair living with us, who we adore, but sadly, she has to return home. She is available to take to should you wish.
