General Store & Cafe Customer Service Officer

Kilkivan General Store is looking for two energetic, positive & productive people to join our team.  The person we are looking for will be tasked with customer service, making Barista quality coffee and tea, assisting in food preparation and the general day to day tasks that keep a small sized General Store running.  You are required to be an honest person with excellent integrity and will need to provide referee details for those that can confirm these qualities.

Essential Job Skills (This means you MUST HAVE or are able to easily obtain this qualification)

Good quality verbal and written communication skills;
Reside nearby or within 45 minutes of Kilkivan in the case you are called in to work at short notice;
Effective time and skills management techniques to ensure positive customer experiences & completion of daily tasks;
Barista skills and/or Formal Barista training;
Basic POS system or Cash Register skills;
Reliable transportation mode;
Ability to work shifts between 6am and 6pm, seven days per week;
Ability to work productively in a team environment;
National Police Certificate (https://www.police.qld.gov.au/documents-for-purchase/national-police-certificates);
Ability to perform physical tasks such as moving boxes of stock; lifting stock onto shelves; cleaning and sweeping/mopping.
Preferred Job Skills (This means it would be favourable if you had this qualification but it is not essential)

Food Safety Certificate or Diploma in Hospitality;
Computer literate and able to perform computer based tasks such as on-line weekly ordering and on-line computer based training in a timely manner.

There is approximately 50-60hrs per week currently available which can be split evenly between two part-time casuals with regular opportunities to work up to 40hrs each per week.  We also own Kilkivan Rural Store, so there is the further opportunity to work at that location which involves customer service for fuel, stock feed, hardware and gardening supplies. Weekday hourly rate is $27.23/hr and weekend is $32.67/hr.

Kilkivan is a picturesque small town 50klm’s west of Gympie and sits on the Wide Bay Highway.  Don’t let it’s small size deceive you – this town is a busy spot and from the moment the sun comes up to the moment it goes down it is alive with tradies, tourists & locals who all mill around the main street.  Kilkivan has everything you need – Service Station, Mechanic, Butcher, Post Office, Pub, Medical Centre, Council Office & Depot, School, Pool and the list goes on…..
