- Woofing positions are unpaid; you trade volunteer work (4 hours per day) for food and accommodation.
We are in a bushfire-affected postcode and can sign off on second year/third year working holiday visas. **
The farm is a very quick walk (less than 5 minutes) to the centre of Nimbin and all its shops, cafes, etc.
The property is 16 acres and bordered by the town on one side and a beautiful creek with swimming holes on the other side.
We have 70+ goats, 3 horses, 1 alpaca, some chickens, a large garden, and a food forest in progress.
Your hours of work will be split as follows: – 1 hour every morning close to sunrise to feed the baby goats – 3 hours in the afternoon from 2 pm to 5 pm, which generally includes 2 hours of various tasks around the property and 1 hour of goat specific tasks.
So this leaves you a good chunk of the day to go into town, relax, or work on your own things.
Woofers in the past have been able to find paying gigs in the area, usually gardening, cleaning, etc.
Monday & Tuesday is your weekend, so you only feed the baby goats in the morning and you have the rest of the day free.
Because we are right on the edge of town, you don’t need a car. There are regular buses to Lismore, Byron Bay, and Murwillumbah. We also have an old car you can rent if we’re not using it.
Your main responsibilities will be bottle feeding the baby goats and moving the fence for the adult goats (electric netting). We are expecting up to 20 babies to be born in May/June, so you might get to witness some births. The goat-specific tasks usually take about 1 or 2 hours per day, then there are additional tasks such as fencing, gardening, and various odd jobs around the property.
On Wednesday and Thursday, you will be working with our wonderful farm hand Tim, on Friday you’ll be on your own or with my partner, and on weekends you’ll be with me.
Accommodation options: – bedroom in the house – in a caravan near the house, so you have your privacy, electricity, and easy access to the house – or you can bring your own van if you’d prefer
Quiet hours are from 9pm to 7am.
There is unlimited high-speed internet in the house.
You will be given a $75/person/week food stipend in cash and we will usually invite you for dinner once on weekends if we’re around. You can also help yourself to whatever you like in the garden.
We are a same-sex couple: 2 women age 35 and 30. We’re generally pretty relaxed and absolutely love our 2 dogs (a fox terrier mix and a greyhound). We like normal things for our age: rock climbing, hiking, and we are volunteer firies, so we sometimes run out of the house at the drop of a hat (usually just one of us though).
Sorry this ad is so long. We’d rather give too much information to make sure it’s going to be a good fit for everyone.

We currently have a herd of about 70 goats. About half the herd are Australian miniatures, and the other half is a mix of rangeland goats and dairy breeds.
We are right on the edge of Nimbin, so you can easily walk to town and won't need a car.
