Hop Stringing involves teams of people tying coir string to the wire trellis and then dibbing the string into the ground at the hop hill. When being taught how to string, you will be paid an hourly rate at Level 1 according to the Horticulture AwardOnce you are competent, your group will be paid on piece rates according to the number of strings that your group completes each fortnight. We have close to 3 million strings to put out this year!
Hop stringing will begin in early August and will finish in early November.

Once Hop Stringing is complete, we then commence Hop Training which involves winding the hop bines onto the strings. This work is also paid on piece rates and will be available, at the Managers discretion, for employees who wish to continue working for HPA. We hope to have the Hop training completed by mid-December.
As per www.immi.gov.au, casual employees who work full days (generally 6-8 hours each day) can count these days as specified work visa days.
IMPORTANT Due to the logistics of getting people into the fields to work and different areas and locations of farms, preference will be given to those applicants who have a car or are traveling with a friend that has a car.
