Cherry Pickers Needed, November - Jan. Accommodation On Site

Cathedral Cherries Taggerty, Melbourne

2nd Year Visa Eligible

Job Description

If you're looking to get out into the Victorian Countryside for an adventure this summer, make life-long friends and earn well - this is the job for you!

--------------- About Cathedral Cherries: -------------------------------

My brother and I, both in our early 30s own a cherry farm 2 hours drive from Melbourne and need workers from mid November - January (subject to fruit availability).

We have been farming cherries and hosting backpackers for over 10 years and pride ourselves on producing Victoria's best fruit and providing our workers with a once in a lifetime opportunity to see the real Australia.

We provide all of your accommodation on the farm, the building is new as of 2016, we also have a bar, dining room, games rooms, hammock gardens, and large kitchen. During the rest of the year, Bonfire Station is used as an events venue and also a successful local microbrewery. We do keep the beer on tap at the bar during the harvest!

------------------------------- Job descriptions: -------------------------------

Most of the work we offer is picking cherries. We pay per Kg picked (piece-rates) usually around $1 to $1.5 per kg but it changes daily to stay fair. The harder you work the more money you will make. Note: this is a physical role. After some practice, it works out to be around $30/per hour with more dedicated individuals earning up to $45/per hour.
We also have positions that require more responsibility in our packing shed which include grading and packing. These position are paid hourly at the award rate of $25.86/hour.

We also have several management positions and sales positions available to the correct applicants. (You cannot apply for these positions. We prefer to select individuals when they arrive)
The work usually finishes in January.

------------------------------- What to expect: -------------------------------

We work hard and start early. Some weeks we will work 7 days, and some weeks we will take it easier and may only work 3. This is because picking is subject to the fruit and is heavily dependent on the weather (both the Heat and the Rain)
We work when we can but when we can't we will go swimming in the rivers, hiking in the mountains, exploring Victoria, have bonfires and enjoy the country lifestyle. our Pickers tend to make friends for life here.

You can expect to make between $500-$1000 per week. The more you work the more you'll earn. In addition to your accommodation we provide all of your food : Expect fresh, healthy food each day.
We charge $44 per night for this opportunity, which covers food and rent costs and this is deducted from your earnings.

---------------------------------------------
We need 40 employees to arrive in November. We require hard working, honest people that are easy going and looking to enjoy their time in Australia. If you are purely focused on making money this is not the job for you. We want fun people that want to experience the real Australia.

Please hit "Apply" and give me a description of yourself and what your interests are. If you have had relevant jobs in the past let me know. Otherwise a CV is not necessary. Just tell me about yourself. This is a great way to spend the summer doing essential agricultural work in a beautiful environment.

I look forward to hearing from you. Please feel free to message us with any Questions.
