About Burlington Berries

Established in 2012, Burlington Berries is the largest privately-owned berry farm in Tasmania. We’re located a short 35 minutes from Launceston and 2 hours from Hobart and our local town is Cressy. We are a rapidly expanding and dynamic family-owned business with about 50 hectares of strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries under production.

With a seasonal team of over 400 people on-site, from over 35 different countries, Burlington is a fun and busy place to be. Throughout the year, planting, growing, monitoring the crops and maintaining and sustaining the farm infrastructure is our focus. Come October/November, the crops are ready to be harvested and our focus is solely on producing, picking, and packing perfect berries up until early June.

About the Opportunity

We are looking for proactive, multitasking people with a good work ethic who is able to work under pressure to join our team. We are looking for both new and experienced team members.

The roles include:

Fruit Packers
Ancillary Workers
Stockperson (Forklift licence required)
You will be reporting to the Senior Supervisor and Packhouse Manager and your main focus will be ensuring quality fruit is packed and processed efficiently.

The packhouse is on a 7-day rotation and it is expected you will be able to work 5 days on, 2 days off a week on a set rotation.

About You

The ideal applicant will:

Be available annually for regular seasonal work
Have good time management and organisational skills
Enjoy working as a part of a team and independently
Be positive and approachable
Work well with multicultural employees
Be able to carry out instructions
Have high attention to detail for quality control
Be physically fit and able to stand for long periods of time
Be prepared to work extended hours and weekends
Be punctual and reliable for rostered shifts
Understand/speak English well
Have Australian work rights
Commit to at least 3 months minimum work
The successful candidate must have their own transport and hold a current driver’s licence.

Additional information

Packhouse procedure training will be given, as well as an extensive WH&S and Farm Induction. For your hard work and dedication, you will be rewarded with an attractive hourly rate as set by the Burlington Berries Enterprise Agreement 2019.

The nature of the work is repetitive with long periods of time standing on your feet. If you don’t feel comfortable with this type of work, please do not apply.

Burlington Berries supplies Driscolls Australia with Driscolls bred varieties; Amesti Strawberries, Maravilla and Margarita Raspberries. Driscolls controls the marketing and distribution of berries through to supermarkets and markets both on the Australian mainland and in Tasmania.
