About Burlington Berries

Established in 2012, Burlington Berries is the largest privately-owned berry farm in Tasmania. We’re located a short 35 minutes from Launceston and 2 hours from Hobart and our local town is Cressy. We are a rapidly expanding and dynamic family-owned business with about 50 hectares of strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries under production.

With a seasonal team of over 400 people on-site, from over 35 different countries, Burlington is a fun and busy place to be. Throughout the year, planting, growing, monitoring the crops and maintaining and sustaining the farm infrastructure is our focus. Come October/November, the crops are ready to be harvested and our focus is solely on producing, picking, and packing perfect berries up until early June.

About the Opportunity

We are looking for both new and experienced raspberry and blackberry fruit pickers to join our harvest team for the upcoming[phone number removed]berry season. If you’re proactive, enjoy working outdoors, have a good work ethic and thrive off hitting set targets, this may be the job for you!

Candidates must be motivated and willing to work at a quick pace, with accuracy. Candidates must be flexible with their work hours and be able to work weekends at short notice. Successful candidates will be required to start early in the mornings on sunrise in a range of weather conditions, working an average of 30+ hours per week.

The work is outdoors and will be physically demanding. Work will include picking raspberries and blackberries to the quality standards set by Burlington Berries management team. There may also be some non-harvest duties, such as planting, pruning, weeding, canopy management, tunnel work/maintenance and general horticultural duties. All work will involve reaching above your head and/or bending over for long periods of time. Some heavy lifting is required. This will be a labour-intensive job and work can become repetitive.

You will be reporting to the Team Supervisor and Harvest Manager and your main focus will be picking raspberries and blackberries straight into a punnet, ensuring the quality standards are adhered to.

Demonstrate ability to acquire good speed and to learn manual tasks
Demonstrate ability to stand for long periods of time
Be available to work 5 days a week
Work well with multicultural employees
Be able to carry out instructions
Have high attention to detail for quality control
Be punctual and reliable for rostered shifts
Understand/speak English well
MUST be available for early starts, around sunrise
MUST be willing to work late afternoon/evenings if required
MUST be able to work weekends at very short notice
MUST be able to work as part of a team or solo
MUST be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
MUST state your right to work in Australia and provide evidence g. valid working visa
Commit to at least 3 months minimum work
The successful candidate must have their own transport and hold a current driver’s licence.

Field picking training will be given, as well as an extensive WH&S and Farm Induction. For your hard work and dedication, you will be rewarded with an attractive piecerate set in line with the Burlington Berries Enterprise Agreement 2019.

The nature of the work is repetitive with long periods of time standing on your feet. If you don’t feel comfortable with this type of work, please do not apply.

Burlington Berries supplies Driscolls Australia with Driscolls bred varieties; Amesti Strawberries, Maravilla and Margarita Raspberries. Driscolls controls the marketing and distribution of berries through to supermarkets and markets both on the Australian mainland and in Tasmania.
