Nursery Workers - (casual) Full Time Hours - Near Sydney!!

The Green Gallery nursery in Glenorie is and award-winning business and one of Sydney's fastest growing nurseries known for producing and delivering high quality potted plants to independent garden centres & retailers, florists, online retailers, landscapers and events teams.

We are a family run business with a high attention to detail and a friendly working environment where we are proud of every plant that we send out.

We are currently looking for casual nursery hands (with full time hours) ready to start ASAP who are willing and able to move into a full-time permanent role if the position works well.

There is a possibility of short term (4-6 months) work for backpackers looking to work hard in a casual position for a shorter period.

Key qualities that we are looking for:

A general knowledge of plants and an interest in learning more
Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Good communication skills
Ability to work flexible hours as some overtime will be offered and required during very busy periods. Some weekend work (watering) may also be required in the warmer months.
Ability to work unsupervised – quickly and efficiently

The role will require some heavy lifting, but mostly repetitive lifting, so you need to be physically fit.

Some of the tasks will include:
Working as part of the production team - potting, planting, spacing, watering, pruning etc
Working with dispatch -selecting stock, quality control, picking orders, loading trucks etc

Some desirable, but not essential qualities will include
Nursery qualifications
Previous experience working in a similar nursery environment
Chemcert Chemical Handling certificate
An MR truck licence
First Aid certificate


This is a casual position to start with, and has the potential to develop into a part-time or full-time position.

Please keep in mind that this is a physical job that also requires you to follow instructions, as well as use your initiative and work at a pace consistent with a busy nursery farming business.

You must have a valid licence and preferably a car as we have two sites (15 min apart) and you will be required to travel between them every now and then. Also, public transport is very difficult in this area.
