My husband and I own and run a farm near Mungindi, on the Queensland/New South Wales border. Mungindi is a really friendly and social town. We are looking for an Au pair. We are also looking for a farmhand so if there is a couple that would fill both of these roles – that would be great!
On our farm we grow cotton, grain crops such as wheat, barley and Faba beans, and we have some cattle.
The Au pair role involves look after our three children. I am actively involved in the office administration side of our business. We have a boy who is 7.5 and a girl who is 6 years old. They both attend primary school at Mungindi. Our third child is a boy 4 years old. He has additional needs and I would be happy to go into more detail over the phone. On the job training would be provided. He also attends the local preschool 3 mornings a week and you would be his one on one aid. The role also includes helping with general household duties, ie cooking, washing and tidying up.
Accommodation is provided and can be live in or live out. Live out would be more suitable for a couple. Having your own car would be preferred as we live 30km from Mungindi. I can also give you a reference from a previous Nanny.
The farmhand role involves tractor work and also general farm duties. Also in summer we irrigate cotton. We currently have much tractor work to do getting the fields ready for the upcoming cotton season which is planted end of October. We also harvest our winter grains October and November so it is a really busy period. Our tractors are new models and have GPS auto steer. Experience is not essential but a willingness to work and common sense is a must.
Position counts towards 88 days
This is a great opportunity to experience living on an Australian farm and also being involved in a great rural community.
