Our Favourite Aussie Travel Blogs

Our Favourite Aussie Travel Blogs

These may not be the biggest, the most popular, or the most famous, but we’ve scoured the internet to bring you 5 Great Aussie Travel blogs we highly recommend you to delve into before, during or after your Aussie travels. We hope you enjoy.

1. RockyTravel

“The art of travelling Australia like a local.”

Italian born and raised, Michela started RockyTravel to share her own experiences about travelling around Australia in the hope it would help others on their own travels.

RockyTravel is full of handy travel hacks, including ideas, tips, and useful, yet practical information to help you plan and organise your Australian expedition.

RockyTravel is targeted at the independent traveller who doesn’t want to spend a fortune, and is looking to get the best value for their money. It also has a special focus on independent women travellers.

2. Positive World Travel

Created by ‘us-couple’ Anthony Milotic and Elise Reeks, Positive World Travel is all about budget travel and travel for couples.

Anthony and Elise worked hard to save for a house, only to turn around and decide to travel the world indefinitely! They strongly believe that travelling allows them to not only explore their passions but to discover new ones too, and hope that through their blog they can inspire others to get out there and do the same.

3. Y Travel Blog

Virgin Australia named y travel blog one of their top Australian bloggers for 2014. They’ve also ranked as Australia’s biggest travel blog, as well as Top 5 in the world. We can’t argue with that. Quality writing, authenticity and honesty (check out the post ‘How We Overcame $30,000 in Credit Card Debt’), they’ve made our top 5 also.
So many destinations covered, you can easily lose yourself in this blog. Oh, and it’s also proof that life + travel doesn’t have to stop after you have kids. Inspiring stuff!

4. Our Naked Australia

Dave and Juz are a couple from Melbourne who decided to embark on the greatest adventure of their lives – to leave their jobs to explore Australia. And no, they aren’t doing it naked. They’re doing it in a 1993 Toyota Land Cruiser 75 Series Troopcarrier, and sharing their journey with us on their blog.

Our Naked Australia is aimed at the ‘health-conscious adventurer, wanderlust-stricken youngster and the outdoor fanatic’, and provides tips, information and inspiration on where to go and what to do for all types of travellers, from young backpackers to grey nomads.

5. Travel Outback Australia – The Local’s Guide to the Outback

Gary and Amanda from Travel Outback aim to be different from other travel blogs. They are advocates of slow travel, encouraging us all take the time to really savor the experience.

As self-professed “campers, nature lovers, bushwalkers, bird watchers, gadget freaks, Geocaches, travellers, outdoor adventurers, photographers, writers, sketchers, and lovers of vast wide open spaces, campfires, sunsets and exploring new places”, they truly believe that everyone can and should travel the outback, and that it’s not beyond the means of the average family, ordinary visitor or backpacker.
