General Farm Work

We are looking for boys and girls that need to complete their 88 days of regional work in order to fulfill the requirements to apply for your 2nd holiday working visa.

We are a working hostel located in Merbein, Victoria, and the majority of our work is related to grape vines. We are associated with a lot of great farmers and companies located in the region, so there is no shortage of work.

We are looking for people to start as soon as possible as the busy season is upon us. Jobs that are available now and are coming up shortly include: vine training (looking after small vines so they grow correctly); grape covering (putting plastic over grape vines to protect them from rain and hot weather); summer pruning (pruning grape vines); grape picking; grape carting (picking the grape boxes up and transporting them to shed); grape lidding (putting lids on boxes); raisin packing; and general clean up and maintenance duties the farmers may require.

We currently require 100+ people and we guarantee you will have constant work (6-7 days per week).

So we are looking for motivated, hard working people, who also work well in a team. We are all on this journey together, so having fun is a must!

We cannot specify exactly which job you will be doing straight away - you will be placed where you are needed most. Please note that some jobs are suited to boys, and some are more suited to girls. Majority of jobs are piece work. We know a lot of people would prefer hourly, but please don't be put off by this, as the piecework rates are set so you have the potential to earn $22+ per hour. Hourly jobs do become available, and these will be given to those that work the hardest, and/or have been at the hostel the longest. If you don't try hard, complain a lot and your not a team player, you will not get an hourly job when it comes available.

Please note that we need you to take care and pride in your work, to ensure consistent high quality results for our farmers. We need them to keep employing us year after year - so as not to jeopardise work for the next lot of people who need to complete there 88 days.
