Alice Springs, Alice Springs
The Rock Bar
Perhaps one of Australia's most famous landmarks, Alice Springs is located deep in the heart of the Northern Territory, around 1,500km from Darwin and Adelaide. Its proximity to the Red Centre, the country's largest desert region, makes it an ideal gateway to discovering the infamous Outback. Alice Springs is found roughly in the geographical centre of Australia - meaning its weather is scorching and its climate completely different from what you'd find on the coast!
Again, the strong attraction for the tourism community means hospitality work is plentiful in Alice Springs. Even inexperienced workers will find it relatively easy to secure a role in once of the city's many lush hotels, or bars and restaurants that cater to thirsty travellers. Territory Discoveries offers regular guided tours of the area, so those with the gift of the gab or experience in adventure tourism could also find potential opportunities chaperoning other tourists around the city!
The largest employer in the region is the Australian federal government (which doesn't tend to employ backpackers!), but hospitality is a close second so work opportunities are still plentiful.
