Job Description

Our client drives the fiscal and economic policy for Australia’s largest state and leads the central financial reporting role for the whole NSW public sector.

Key Responsibilities:
Drive the day-to-day operational aspects of the projects through external vendors & ensure adherence to project methodology and standards.
Assess business requests and requirements, develop solution proposals that consider schedule and funding constraints and align with technology strategy.
Identify and schedule project deliverables and milestones.
Negotiate and approve contracts and Statements of Work (SoW) with System Integration partners.
Direct and coordinate activities of internal and external personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within budget.
Perform risk assessments, and where necessary implement mitigation plans.
Manage System Integrators, closely monitoring the achievement of milestones to ensure compliance with contracts and SoWs.
Establish standards and procedures for project reporting and documentation.
Continuously benchmark project management performance to identify improvements and achieve higher capability maturity in Project Portfolio Management.
Manage external vendors and ensure they deliver to the timeframe committed, all issues/risks that impact delivery are resolved, provide the relevant documentation required by the project and deliver services defined in the contract are provided
Selection Criteria
Strong experience in vendor evaluation and management for the execution of outsourced components of the project & ensure that they meet the business requirements
Extensive proven project management experience of multiple, complex ICT projects including controlling the planning and implementation of ICT projects and demonstrated ability to establish and adhere to strict project timeframes.
Proven experience of managing multiple projects and programs including overseeing all activities related to project direction, scope, deliverables, planning, resource allocation, project health/ reporting, problem resolution and collaboration with senior stakeholders
Proven ability to develop project briefs, Business Cases, project plans and proposals for work, including gathering requirements and making estimates of resources, time and cost.
Proven experience in working in a matrix environment and the ability to work autonomously within established methodologies and standards.
The future incumbent should have very good written and oral communication skills and demonstrated effective stakeholder management, influencing, and dispute resolution skills.
