Live-in Aged Carer

Elderly gentleman with limited mobility and early-onset dementia in need of live-in carer.



This is a live-in position, located in Palm Beach, NSW. Minutes walk to beach, walk into Avalon, direct bus into Sydney and 5 mins to shops.



All utilities, including high-speed internet is also included. The accommodation is shared living with a Queen room and private onsuite. Position is a live-in position to live-in. We are a small family and my aging father lives with us. We have a 4.5 year old and both me and my husband work full time so need assistance.



A monthly contract compensation (commensurate with experience) is also included.



Looking for approximately 30-40 hours of personal care support plus the security of knowing that someone else is in the home should we be out.

Although this role is 6 days per week you will both have plenty of time off during the days and will be able to manage your own time.

Additionally a casual aged carers team will fill in when needed for personal time, days off, sick leave, holidays etc.



Gentleman needs a walker to get around and sometimes requires his wheelchair. He does not leave the home except to go to doctors appointments. Encouragement to sit outside in the beautiful gardens is strongly recommended.



Gentleman requires help with showering, occasional help with toileting, meal prep, reminder to take medication from blister pack 2x daily, dressing, cleaning and most importantly social support and help using the television.



Gentleman has a keen sense of humour and enjoys sarcasm and banter. Very well educated the he enjoys intellectual conversations and specifically topics on travel, art and nature. A picky eater so he will require someone with patience and good cooking skills.



Applicants must love animals as home includes a puppy and two cats.



This is a Live-In position (would suit single student or single aged carer).

Duties:

Assisting client with personal hygiene and getting dressed
Assisting client with light housekeeping or other daily errands
Preparing meals
Medicine prompting (making sure client takes medicine)
Providing companionship and emotional support
Responding to emergency situations
Transporting client to appointments
Providing support with academic, social or recreational activities, specifically use of television/Foxtel/Netflix/iVIEW/Prime etc.
