Job Description

An exciting opportunity exists for a community disability support worker ready to take on a challenging and rewarding casual role of Therapeutic Mentor at Treehouse Innovative Families.
We are seeking a dedicated individual who is passionate about making an impact on the lives of people in our community.


The Opportunity

The role of the Community Support Worker is to work with clients within the NDIS funding framework, assisting them to achieve their goals and increase their independence and participation within the community. You will provide support to people with disability and/or psychosocial needs, enabling them to undertake all aspects of daily living. You will also promote and demonstrate positive behaviours, learning experiences and skill development for your clients.



Some responsibilities include:

Taking clients out for social outings and activities, shopping trips or GP/specialist appointments.
Servicing clients at their respective homes with activities of daily living such as toileting, showering and dressing.
Light domestic duties and meal preparation/eating assistance.
Medication administration duties.
Liaising with the families and representatives of your client as required.
Documentation and reporting
Act as a positive role model and help build clients’ life skills
Encourage and equip clients with social skills to further their community participation.
Assist clients with the development and enhancement of their social relationships.
Cater to the client’s individual needs
Work closely with the client to achieve their individual goals.
Communicate with and support clients of different backgrounds, disabilities, age groups, gender, etc in the most appropriate way
Consistently engage with clients
Actively participate in activities together with the client.
Understand and abide by all Treehouse Policies and Procedures

Selection Criteria/Requirements

NDIS Workers Screening check
Willing to obtain a Valid NSW Working with Children Check
Valid Australian Drivers Licence
Attained or working towards a relevant Bachelor's Degree, Diploma or Certificate preferably in Disability Care
Experience working with people with disabilities
Basic knowledge/understanding of trauma (highly regarded)
Knowledge of NDIS (highly regarded)
Candidates of an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island background are encouraged to apply.
