Pacific Meat Sales is a family-owned business operating for over 25 years. Specializing in high-quality meat sales to a domestic and export market. Our focus is on Pork, Beef, and Veal, which are supplied through 5 different brands.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced hands-on Maintenance Fitter to support a busy Meat Processing facility. The role will be reporting to the Maintenance Manager and be based at our workshop in Thomastown. Our machines and equipment fleet comprises of Industrial Meat Processing Equipment ranging from Conveyors, Mincer Grinders, Band Saws, Slicers, Mixers, etc.

Key areas of responsibilities

Planning, organising, and directing the day-to-day production schedule;
Providing clear direction and building a small team of Fitters and Boilermakers of daily requirements, providing feedback, tools, and resources to meet targets;
Manage resources to achieve production output schedules whilst minimising unnecessary costs, optimizing cost efficiency for both ourselves and the customer;
Ensuring that our fleet of machines and equipment are maintained in good working order and that the workshop and the yard are maintained properly. You will also be required to discard any faulty or futile equipment;
Deliver our contractual obligations to our customers and maintain good customer relations;
Occasional field service work involving preventative and general maintenance work for a closely affiliated company involved in Meat Processing;
Promoting and actively contributing to a safe work environment, perform scheduled Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance inspections to eliminate hazards
Requirements

General maintenance knowledge with the ability to use both power and hand tools and various equipment.
Previous experience within a manufacturing plant, ideally food processing an advantage
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, advanced computer literacy, and impeccable level of attention to detail;
Demonstrated experience working in a role with a customer focus.
Demonstrate the ability to grow to a leadership position, by building and leading a small team of Fitters and Boilermakers.
A strong commitment to WHS and safe work practices
Given the hands-on nature of the role, it will involve a lot of bending, stretching, and twisting; a lot of heavy lifting of materials weighing up to 20-25kg is also involved in the role;
