Job Description:
Still Waters Avocado Farm is seeking a highly motivated and assertive senior Farm Labourer to join our team. As a senior Farm Labourer, you will play a vital role in the success of our avocado farm by ensuring the efficient cultivation, harvesting, and maintenance of our avocado trees. This position requires someone with a strong sense of leadership, excellent communication skills, and a passion for farming.

Responsibilities:
Oversee and participate in daily farming activities, including weed control, pruning, watering, fertilizing, and pest control measures, to maintain optimal avocado tree health and maximize yield.
Supervise a team of farm labourers, providing clear instructions, guidance, and support to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
Monitor and manage irrigation systems, ensuring proper water distribution to avocado trees based on their individual needs.
Implement and enforce safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all farm employees.
Regularly inspect avocado trees for signs of disease, pests, or other issues, taking appropriate actions to mitigate risks and maintain tree health.
Collaborate with farm management to develop and implement strategies for increased productivity and efficiency.
Maintain accurate records of farm activities, including equipment maintenace schedules, crop yields, and pest control measures.
Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment, adhering to maintenance schedules and safety guidelines.
Requirements:
Previous experience in farm labour or a related field is preferred.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster a positive work environment.
Physical stamina and endurance to perform demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
Knowledge of avocado farming practices, including planting, pruning, irrigation, and pest control, is an advantage.
Understanding of safety protocols and the ability to enforce them diligently.
Attention to detail and the ability to identify and address potential issues proactively.
Ability to operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment.
Flexibility to work extended hours during peak farming seasons.
A Chemcert is essential.
A forklift licence and elevated platform experience an advantage.
