Job Description
If you have a genuine passion and want to enter the marine industry, we are looking to expand our team and due to the varied nature of the work we do, we are looking for anyone with experience in at least one of:
• shipwright/boatbuilding
• timber joinery
• fibreglassing
• the marine industry.
On the job training will be provided for the right person.
We are a family run small business established in 2018 and have built a solid reputation for high quality work, with a specialisation in timber and fibreglass restoration and reconstruction. We are a mobile business servicing the Gippsland Lakes anywhere from Lakes Entrance to Paynesville kn East Gippsland, Victoria.
We are a hardworking and professional team, looking for the right person to join it. The right person may not hold all of the following qualifications, skills and experience, as on the job training can be provided if you’re the right fit for our team.
To be the right person for the job, you MUST:
• be hardworking and organised
• have a keen eye for detail
• be friendly with good communication skills
• be able to work independently or as part of a team.
The following skills and experiences are preferable, but not essential for the right candidate:
• experience with both traditional and modern timber reconstruction
• experience with single and two pack paint systems
• experience with fibreglass reconstruction using different resin systems (epoxy/polyester/vinylester)
• a good understanding of how to safely use both hand and power tools
• current drivers licence and your own transport
The nature of the work can be varied and may include the following tasks:
• traditional and modern timber reconstruction and building
• fibreglass repairs and reconstruction
• sanding and painting to a high quality finish
• boat washing, detailing, anti fouling and general maintenance work.
Wage is above award conditions and is dependent on your experience and qualifications. Contract length etc. (eg. Part time/full time) are negotiable depending on your situation.
