Farm Work In Ayr

#Is it possible to know how much we will be earning?

Pickers – Our bin rate is $40 per bin for Kensington Pride and Honey Gold varieties. $30 per bin for R2E2 (bigger fruit more bins). There is a $10 per bin bonus for all pickers who finish the whole season. A picker has the potential to pick 7 – 12 bins a day. So on average a picker has the potential to make $280 - $480 a day.

Shed Worker - We pay at $28 p/h. So between $1,400 to $1,960 a week.

#The post says the work is 7 days a week, I was wondering what the shift pattern is there.
We work during the day only. Pickers work 6am - 4pm and shed workers have varying hours between 7am and 7pm. This year we have a big crop so an average of 50 – 70 hours a week.

#How will I be paid?
We employ all employees through our labour hire company. However, I am more than happy to facilitate the process of talking with Jason and ensuring you get work at the farm.

#When does the job start?
We plan to start at the 3rd week of November. We will have a better idea in the coming weeks.

#We’re here on a working holiday visa and hoping this work count towards our 88 days?
Yes, all of your work will count towards the 88 days. Provide us with the forms and we will arrange to have the days added to your total.

#Is the work weather dependent? Given the short season we want to get as many days in where possible!
Yes. However, we only stop for storms, rain and power outages. If we pick for the day but there is an afternoon storm we will continue in the shed.

#Is there car parking available?
Yes. We have onsite parking.

#We don’t have a car, is there any chance to arrange transportation or is there a bus to get to the farm?
Leave that one with me! Last year we had people who didn't have cars and just carpooled with other that did. We should be able to organise something for you.

#As a couple or friends, we want to do our work together and was wondering if accommodating us both with the same shifts is possible?
Yes. We have had many couples and friends work for us over the years. We can definitely accommodate you both especially in the shed.
