Farm jobs in QLD

More than 120 produce goods are grown and harvested in Queensland so it’s a fantastic place for backpackers to pick up fruit picking work to earn a little extra money or earn their second year visa. From February to April you can pick apples, pears, melon or ginger. From April onwards there’s plenty of picking and packing work available for vegetables, beans, citrus fruits or sugar cane. Alongside the produce picking and packing, staff will be needed to prune the vines and trees and plant seedlings, so there is orchard and farm work in abundance all year.

You can also find work as a stable hand or farm hand on a cattle station, carrying out tasks such as feeding animals, cleaning paddocks, general maintenance tasks and repairing fencing. Farm hand positions are much more scarce in comparison to fruit picking jobs, and experience in a similar role is often required.
