You can pick up harvesting and packing jobs in South Australia year-round. Dried fruits are grown and prepared in South Australia so work is always available to prepare and process the fruit. There are also orchards growing fruits such as oranges, apples, pears, strawberries and grapes so you can pick up work pruning and planting trees or picking the ripe fruit.
Farm work and station hand positions can be picked up in South Australia. Duties will include tasks such as co-ordinating and herding cattle, riding horses, feeding livestock, helping with animal husbandry, and in some cases, birthing young. Fence constructors are also often needed. Farm hand jobs are plentiful in South Australia and are a great way for backpackers to work for their second year visas.
Other farm work available includes working in a packing lines to prepare seafood such as crab and mussels for sale to markets. Duties will include deshelling and cleaning the produce.
